WooCommerce product page optimisation is the practice of making it easier for customers to understand a product, choose any required options and complete the next purchase action. Start with clarity and reliable behaviour before adding more elements.
Make product media useful
Use images that show the product clearly, then add video only when it answers a meaningful question such as movement, scale or a product detail. Keep the gallery easy to browse on desktop and mobile, with controls that do not compete with the product information.
Make variations understandable
For variable products, ensure each required option is clear and that the selected price and image update as expected. Test every available variation combination that affects the customer’s decision.
Keep the purchase action accessible
The original add-to-cart form should remain clear and usable. On longer product pages, a sticky purchase action can help after that original control leaves view, but it should continue to work with the original form rather than create a second set of product options.
Use a practical pre-publish checklist
- Check the primary image, gallery sequence and any product video.
- Test simple and variable products, including required choices and selected pricing.
- Review title, price and purchase controls at desktop, tablet and mobile widths.
- Add a representative product to the basket and continue through the store’s normal checkout path.
- Check that fixed headers, chat controls and banners do not cover the purchase action.
Improve one decision at a time
Review the product page as a customer would: understand the product, choose options where needed and proceed to purchase. Make changes in small, testable steps so it remains clear which improvement helped.
